Judgment Seat of Christ
Modern Christianity seems rather quick to criticize the wicked state of the world. Yet, well-meaning Christians frequently fail to acknowledge that many of the world’s woes originated from within the Church. For this reason, the Apostle Peter admonishes the people of God that true judgment must begin at our own doorstep.
The Day of Redemption (Daily Portion 10428)
The day of redemption for Israel will be a day of refreshing from the Lord (v.1), a day of removal of false prophets (v.2-5), a day of remembrance of the rejected shepherd (v.6-7), and a day of refining for the remnant of the people (v.8-9). It is the day when the people of Israel will say, “The LORD is my God.” We can all rejoice in what a day that will be!
Unrighteous Judgment in the Land (Daily Portion 10419)
This psalm laments the lack of righteous judgment in the world. The judges judge unjustly and the poor and needy are afflicted. But God promises to judge the judges. He will destroy the unrighteous judges and will righteously judge the inhabitants of the earth Himself. Then, all judgment will be righteous judgment.
Wisdom Personified
Wisdom cries out to the simple. She speaks righteousness and she is better than rubies. Sinning against her is sinning against your own soul.
The Wisdom of Solomon
Solomon had the opportunity that many would love to have. He could ask anything that he wanted of God. Solomon's request tells us much of him.
The Dog Ate My Homework
All over the world young people now have support to their claim that the dog could have eaten their homework.
The Blessing of Moses Continued (Daily Portion 10417)
This is a short passage but its statements can challenge the Bible student. Moses continues to bless the tribes of Israel before his death. In these verses, he blesses five of the tribes; six, if we count Joseph as the two tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim. Do not expect to understand all the statements of this passage the first time you study it. This is a passage to come back to as you grow in understanding.
Authority for Truth
Authority for truth is the right to determine what the truth is.
David Returns to Jerusalem
David is in charge. As such, it is a day of forgiveness and mercy (Shimei and Mephibosheth). It is a day of grace and blessing (Barzillai and Chimham).
The Glory of Jerusalem (Daily Portion 10413)
This chapter describes the glory that will one day come to God’s chosen city of Jerusalem. In much of the chapter, God is speaking directly to the city. Notice also how the earthly city is a picture and type of the heavenly Jerusalem that comes down in the book of Revelation (chapters 21 & 22).
