        1. NOTE: The first three offerings (burnt, meat, peace) are voluntary and are a sweet savor unto the Lord. The last two offerings (sin, trespass) are required and are not called sweet savors to the Lord. It is evidently sweet to the Lord when we serve Him because of love and not because we must.

    3. The Answer from the Lord (Numbers 15:35-36)
      1. The man shall surely be put to death.
      2. The congregation stoned him without the camp.
    4. The Timing of the Crime
      1. Notice that the Lord gave the Israelites some instruction on how to handle various sins in Numbers 15:22-31.
      2. God then gives His people an opportunity to obey or rebel against His commandments by the example of the man gathering sticks.
      3. Many times in our own lives, the Lord will show you something from scripture; and not too far in the future, He will give you an opportunity to put His teaching into practice.

      3. And do them
      4. And that ye seek not after your own heart and eyes
      5. That ye may remember to be holy unto your God
      6. Note:  The Lord is serious about His people remembering Him, His works and His word.
        1. In our human nature we are prone to forget.  We feel as though some things are so important that they are worth the extra effort of note writing and other things just so that we remember.  God knew this and so in His word He put all sorts of little post-it notes saying things like forget not the LORD thy God or Remember now thy Creator .
        2. Don’t forget He formed you (Deuteronomy 32:8; Isaiah 51:13).

            1. He knew no sin.
            2. He became sin.
            3. So that we might have His righteousness
          2. His resurrection (2 Timothy 2:8)
          3. His ordinance (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
        4. Don’t forget He delivers you (Judges 8:34).
          1. The trials of life
          2. The unseen dangers
        5. He knows you and loves you (Deuteronomy 9:7).
          1. You’re wickedness
          2. His lovingkindness
        6. The Lord thought so much of those who remembered Him in the Book of Malachi that He began a new book to record their remembrance (Malachi 3:16).  Maybe that book has been closed, but even if it has, God still loves it when His people remember Him.  Have you forgotten Him?  Are you busy in the work of the Lord but forgetting the Lord of that work?  All He asks of you is that you don’t forget .
    3. The God to be Remembered (Numbers 15:41)
      1. I am the LORD your God.
        1. Which brought you out of Egypt
        2. To be your God
      2. I am the LORD your God.
