  4. TYPOLOGY CONCERNING THE SEPARATION OF THE NAZARITE
    1. Separation from the Vine Tree
      1. This would be typical of the pleasures or joys of this world (Psalm 4:7; Isaiah 24:11; Jeremiah 48:33).
      2. A believer who wants to be separated unto God will separate himself to some degree from the pleasures of this world.
    2. No Razor To Touch the hair
      1. This would mean that a man’s hair would be allowed to grow to a longer length than normal.
      2. Long hair on a man is shameful (1 Corinthians 11:14).
      3. A believer who wants to be separated unto God will endure some persecution and mockery for their devotion to God. (Mark 8:34; Hebrews 12:2).
      4. This would also help to prove that the normal thing for a Jewish man was not long hair, and had Jesus had the hair length presented by the artists, then Judas could have said Jesus is the one with long hair.  Rather he said Jesus would be the one he betrayed with a kiss.
    3. Not To Be Defiled by the Dead
      1. This could be typical of two different things.
      2. It could be typical of separation from the dead things of this world.
        1. As such, believers should not defile themselves by fellowshipping with the world (2 Corinthians 6:14; Ephesians 5:11).
        2. Friendship with the world is enmity against God (James 4:4).
      3. It could be typical of our decisions to separate ourselves from some of the things in this world that we consider to be our rights or what we deserve to have. (Luke 9:57-62; Ezekiel 24:15-18).
        1. As such, a believer wholly separated unto God has yielded even the things considered to be rightfully theirs unto God.
