See All...). - The Lord put His name upon the children of Israel (Numbers 6:27And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.
See All...). - TYPOLOGY CONCERNING THE SEPARATION OF THE NAZARITE
- Separation from the Vine Tree
- This would be typical of the pleasures or joys of this world (Psalm 4:7Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
See All...; Isaiah 24:11There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.
See All...; Jeremiah 48:33And joy and gladness is taken from the plentiful field, and from the land of Moab, and I have caused wine to fail from the winepresses: none shall tread with shouting; their shouting shall be no shouting.
See All...). - A believer who wants to be separated unto God will separate himself to some degree from the pleasures of this world.
- No Razor To Touch the hair
- This would mean that a man’s hair would be allowed to grow to a longer length than normal.
- Long hair on a man is shameful (1 Corinthians 11:14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
See All...). - A believer who wants to be separated unto God will endure some persecution and mockery for their devotion to God. (Mark 8:34And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
See All...; Hebrews 12:2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
See All...). - This would also help to prove that the normal thing for a Jewish man was not long hair, and had Jesus had the hair length presented by the artists, then Judas could have said Jesus is the one with long hair. Rather he said Jesus would be the one he betrayed with a kiss.
- Not To Be Defiled by the Dead
- This could be typical of two different things.
- It could be typical of separation from the dead things of this world.
- As such, believers should not defile themselves by fellowshipping with the world (2 Corinthians 6:14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
See All...; Ephesians 5:11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
See All...). - Friendship with the world is enmity against God (James 4:4Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
See All...). - It could be typical of our decisions to separate ourselves from some of the things in this world that we consider to be our rights or what we deserve to have. (Luke 9:57-62 [57] And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
[58] And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
[59] And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
[60] Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
[61] And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
[62] And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
See All...; Ezekiel 24:15-18 [15] Also the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, [16] Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. [17] Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the tire of thine head upon thee, and put on thy shoes upon thy feet, and cover not thy lips, and eat not the bread of men. [18] So I spake unto the people in the morning: and at even my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.
See All...). - As such, a believer wholly separated unto God has yielded even the things considered to be rightfully theirs unto God.
Proverbs 27:7
The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
