Zealous of Good Works - Titus 2:14
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Zeal involves a fervent desire to accomplish some particular feat. The Bible tells us that Christ died on the cross to redeem a people who would then become zealous of good works. Every Christian should strive to be zealous in his service to the Lord. Many believers during periods of great persecution zealously gave their lives for the gospel’s sake. Acts 15:26Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
See All... tells of men who “hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” These people recognized that they were no longer their own but God’s. They had been redeemed by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and willingly sealed that testimony with their own blood. The more the enemies of God persecuted them, the more freely the gospel spread.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Read Ecclesiastes 9:10Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
See All... and Romans 12:11Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
See All.... Now, consider some of the acts of David's mighty men. They were eager and had a burning desire to serve the Lord. They did not quit but finished their jobs. They lived and served God zealously. - (For everyone): How zealous are you in your service for the Lord? Do you find ways to witness to others? Do you strongly desire opportunities to serve the Lord?
- What would it take to keep you from serving the Lord? If circumstances easily thwart your efforts towards the work of the Lord, then it is likely that you are not zealous of good works.
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to give you more zeal.
- Ask the Lord to remind you of His zeal toward saving you.
