Ye Have Not Looked unto the Maker - Isaiah 22:11
See All...
INTRODUCTION
The Lord never has nor ever will compete for the respect of man. "The LORD he is God; there is none else beside him" (Deuteronomy 4:35Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.
See All...). He said, "I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me" (Isaiah 45:5I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
See All...). Yet, God desires fellowship with mankind. He does not need it, but desires it. For this reason, He invites mankind to "look unto" Him, and be saved (Isaiah 45:22Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
See All...). He not only desires man’s respect, but even more so, He deserves it. No other god can do for man what God has done for man in sending His Son to the cross. In spite of all that God has done for man, men still refuse to look unto the maker and have respect unto Him (Isaiah 22:11Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Read Numbers 21:5-9 [5] And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
[6] And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
[7] Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
[8] And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
[9] And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
See All.... Compare this to John 3:14-18 [14] And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: [15] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. [16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
See All.... The only way to be saved is to "look" unto the true and living God (Hebrews 12:2Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
See All...). - Have you looked unto the Lord for salvation? Have you respected Him in the stead of the gods of this world? Will you give Him preference in every facet of your life?
- How has mankind disrespected God by following after false gods which "speak not," "see not," "hear not," "smell not," "handle not," and "walk not" (Psalm 115:1-8 [1] Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.
[2] Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?
[3] But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.
[4] Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
[5] They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:
[6] They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:
[7] They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.
[8] They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
See All...)?
