Wisdom Dwells with Prudence - Proverbs 8:12
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Every astute Bible student knows the importance God places upon wisdom. Accordingly, the Bible says, “Wisdom is the principal thing” (Proverbs 4:7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
See All...). The verse continues, “therefore get wisdom.” No doubt, wisdom serves as one of the most important gifts for which a believer should seek God. In fact, the Lord promises, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:5If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
See All...). More than likely, these truths are not new, but some Christians fail to recognize the association of wisdom with prudence. We ought to rejoice knowing that by seeking prudence, we are seeking wisdom; and by seeking wisdom, we are seeking prudence.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Sheep get into much trouble when they fail to follow their shepherd. Sometimes they get lost, hurt, or come face-to-face with an enemy. Sometimes they will mistakenly eat some poisonous plants. The Bible likens us to sheep. The Lord is our Shepherd. Every morning, ask the Lord to help you follow Him (Proverbs 3:5-7 [5] Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
[6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
[7] Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
See All...). - (For everyone): What does the Bible mean that wisdom and prudence dwell together? Why should the believer seek either prudence or wisdom?
- Are you seeking wisdom from the Lord daily? The Bible teaches us to ask God for wisdom. Are you asking Him for wisdom or for prudence?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to help you grow in wisdom and prudence.
- Ask God to show you the importance of prudence.
