Why Hast Thou Made Me Thus? - Romans 9:20
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Learning that God is the creator in the person of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3:9And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
See All..., Colossians 1:16For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
See All...) should serve as one of the earliest of life’s lessons. Some people have used this truth of God as creator to suggest that He is accountable for their lustful desires, yet nothing could be further from the truth. Believers should continue to believe and proclaim that God created each person on purpose and for a purpose. Unfortunately, many people try to point to God as a prime excuse for the sin within their own hearts and lives. They point to some failure, sin, or lifestyle and say, “God made me this way.” God does make some people short and others tall. He makes some with blue eyes and some with green. He makes some male and some female. God made each individual with certain traits, yet the truth of who and what we are flows from the choices we have made, good and bad. One commonality amongst all of God’s creation concerns the need for the soul’s salvation. Instead of trying so hard to question God’s wisdom, believers should rather choose to serve Him to the best of their God-given abilities.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): If we argue with God about how He made us, who’s going to win (Job 33:13Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
See All...; Job 40:2Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
See All...)? Instead of hiding gray hair, we should agree with God (Proverbs 16:31The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
See All...). Instead of beautifying our feet the world’s way, why do we not do it God’s way (Romans 10:15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
See All...)? - (For everyone): What are some ways in which you have laboured to change your appearance? Are these things within a good scriptural balance or have you changed due to vanity?
- When is the last time that you thanked God for making you the way He did? It is not about whether or not you think you are beautiful, but are you thankful God created you as He did?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Thank God for creating you as He did.
- Ask God to help you be content with what He has done in you.
