Who Is a Witness? - Acts 2:32
See All...
INTRODUCTION
A witness is one who testifies to the certainty of an event. As such, the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. By doing so, they were declaring the resurrection to be an absolute truth. The disciples physically witnessed the fact that the Lord Jesus Christ had been put to death, but was alive and well. Although no believer today physically saw the birth, life, death, burial, or resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, we can and should still testify to its truthfulness. In order to offer an adequate witness of the Lord’s saving grace, an individual must first have experienced the new birth combined with the witness of God’s indwelling Spirit (1 John 5:10He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): The apostles were excited to tell others about the Lord Jesus (Acts 4:20For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
See All...). They had been with Him. Even though none of us have seen the Lord, Peter said we have something we can trust - the Bible (2 Peter 1:16-21 [16] For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. [17] For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. [18] And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount. [19] We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: [20] Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. [21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

See All..., 160a). Using the Bible, we can tell others about the Lord. - (For everyone): Why would it be difficult for an unbeliever to be a good witness for the Lord Jesus Christ? How does this limit the number of witnesses available to speak for the Lord?
- Though we have not physically seen the resurrected Christ, we can read of Him in the scriptures. How can the scripture lend us authority to be good witnesses for the Lord?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to forgive you for failing to witness for Him.
- Ask the Lord to teach you how to witness.
