INTRODUCTION

The Bible often speaks of sin as a thing of the past when it pertains to believers. This is not because believers never sin, but because the goal of every believer should be to depart from the sins which controlled his life prior to salvation. The things which led us to see our own wickedness should be seen as the friend of our past and the enemy of our present and future. This is exactly how Paul spoke of envy in his epistle to Titus. According to Paul, "we . . . were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another." Now, "let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints" (Ephesians 5:3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

• (For smaller children) God wants us to learn and obey His word. This is growing up on the inside (1 Peter 2:2As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

• Have you trusted Christ as your Saviour? What is different about you now? Do you still partake of all the sins that first caused you to recognize your own wretchedness?
• Are you envious of other believers? Are you envious of the world? Are you willing to repent of this sin, and ask God to help you get victory over it?

• Thank God for the change He wrought in you at salvation.
• Ask God to continue to help you grow in His grace.
