INTRODUCTION

The word salvation is used throughout the word of God, but the context and meaning varies from place to place. Failure to understand differences in usage has led many to espouse false doctrines. The foundational meaning of the word salvation is deliverance . The vast majority of occurrences in the word of God has to do with physical deliverance. The word salvation would be used to describe the time when someone received deliverance from a specific trial or a threatening enemy. The most common use among believers today is as the word relates to spiritual deliverance offered through the finished work of Jesus Christ.

• (For smaller children) God saves us from many physical dangers daily (Psalm 71:15My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.
