INTRODUCTION

The Bible describes God as a God of truth. He will not lie (1 Samuel 15:29And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.

See All...). This attribute of truth is designated to each person of the Trinity or the Godhead. Truth is declared as an attribute of God the Father in Titus 1:1-2 [1] Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; [2] In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
See All..., of God the Son in John 14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
See All..., and of God the Spirit in John 16:13Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
See All.... Even the very words of God are ascribed this attribute in John 17:17Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
See All... where the Bible says, “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” Thank God that He is truth and so is His word. A lie to the least extent within the words of God or in God’s very nature would incriminate God’s expressed deity. Lying is contrary to the nature of God. The scripture says that it is “impossible” for God to lie (Hebrews 6:18That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
See All...). Impossible! It would be a different world if men would simply live more like Christ.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

• (For children): God's word is true from the beginning (Psalm 119:160Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.

Whatever God tells us is always right, and whatever He says "shall come to pass" (Ezekiel 12:25For I am the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD.
  See All...). We can always believe Him and believe in Him. Read and take good care of your Bible.
• (For everyone): Do you know for sure that you are going to heaven when you die? How do you know for sure? How did you find out what to do in order to go to heaven? How would all of this change if God were not a God of truth?
• How important is it to you to know that God is a God of truth? What are some of the ways that you rely on the truthfulness of God? What things in your life depend upon God’s truthfulness?
