INTRODUCTION

Vegetarianism, the refusal to eat meat, and veganism, the refusal to eat any animal product, are on the rise. Many are seeking to push the idea that meat eating is evil and should be stopped. The reality of scripture is that the opposite is true. In fact, any individual that suggests any person should abstain from eating meat is preaching a doctrine of devils. Regardless of what the modern doctors, scientists, or diet creators suggest, the Lord clearly indicates that it is not His will for His people to abstain from eating meat. Much of the modern movement stems from an idolatrous view of the animal kingdom that God clearly gave to man to be eaten.

• (For smaller children) Read Psalm 139:14I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
  See All.... When you eat, your body gets rid of anything it cannot use (Matthew 15:17Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
  See All...). What you eat has nothing to do with God accepting you or not (Romans 14:17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
  See All...). God is more concerned with the sin in your heart (Matthew 15:18-19 [18] But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. [19] For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
  See All...). Only He can cleanse that (1 John 1:8-10 [8] If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. [9] If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. [10] If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

• Have you ever had someone try to convince you that it was ungodly to eat meat? Where did they get their authority for their ideas? Was it from scripture?
• God gave beasts to man for food. How would it then be offensive for someone to suggest it is evil to eat the flesh of animals? Why would God call it a doctrine of devils?

PRAYER NEEDS

• Ask the Lord to protect you from those that would deceive you.
• Thank the Lord for giving you meat to eat.
