Trusting in Man
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Romans 3:4God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
See All... says, "let God be true, but every man a liar." Perhaps this is the foundational reason why God warned believers not to put their trust in man. Yet, it is not the only reason. In Psalm 146:3Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
See All... the Lord warns, "Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help." The real needs of mankind cannot be met by man, even the best of men. Those who put their trust in man, do so in disobedience to the Lord, and to their own personal harm. As is stressed two times in Psalm 118:8-9 [8] It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
[9] It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
See All..., "It is better to trust in the LORD." An improper trust in man is in many ways a departure from the Lord (Jeremiah 17:5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) When Jesus came to earth, He could have trusted in Himself since He was God, but He willingly gave us an example that we should trust in our heavenly Father (Hebrews 2:13And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold I and the children which God hath given me.
See All...). No one loves you more or has more power to help than God (2 Corinthians 1:9-10 [9] But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: [10] Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;
See All...). (Read Jeremiah 17:5Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
See All..., 7; Micah 7:5Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.
See All....) - Though we are certainly to have loved ones in our lives, we are not to put our trust in them in disregard of trusting the Lord. How can we insure that this does not happen?
- In what men should we be careful to put our trust (i.e., politicians, teachers, preachers, media, friends, family)? What could be the dangers in putting our trust in each?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to teach you the dangers of trusting in man.
- Ask the Lord to guide you in fully trusting Him above all others.
