INTRODUCTION

It is a grave error to believe that a false teacher is easily recognizable as such. The best of these teachers will never be discovered by the majority as teaching something false, and will be able to lead multitudes away from faith in the words of God. The apostle Paul reminded the believers in Corinth that Satan is transformed into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
See All...) and it should not marvel believers if his ministers are also "transformed as the ministers of righteousness" (2 Corinthians 11:15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
See All...). This should stand as a sober warning to the saints of God. There are people planted in churches all over the world for the sole purpose of leading believers astray.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

• (For smaller children) The book of Acts says the Bereans searched the scriptures daily to see if what Paul and Silas were preaching was true (Acts 17:10-11 [10] And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. [11] These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
  See All...). Read what Jesus said about false teachers (Matthew 7:15Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

• If Satan’s ministers can be transformed into ministers of righteousness, how can the saints of God identify those propagating false doctrine?
• Why is it important that believers have the scripture as their authority in all matters? What happens when we become followers of men (even if those men are currently following the scripture)?

PRAYER NEEDS

• Ask the Lord to protect your church from false teachers.
• Ask God to give you discernment concerning error.
