To Whom Should We Witness?

To Whom Should We Witness?

Acts 22:15 For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.

INTRODUCTORY THOUGHTS

The question of an appropriate audience to receive witness of the resurrection may seem quite simple at first. However, the issue is somewhat controversial. Some erroneously teach that believers should only witness to Jews, while others teach that believers should witness to all except for Jews. Others might suggest that believers should not witness to any of the lost because God has chosen some to die and go to hell. These teachings exist for many reasons, none of which are scriptural. The biblical pattern for the New Testament church is that believers should “witness unto all men.” Everyone needs the opportunity to hear the gospel, despite his or her background or current living conditions. The whole world needs to hear that Christ has risen!

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

(For children):The Lord is not willing that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9). He wants all men to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4). The Samaritans were disliked by the Jews, yet Jesus traveled through Samaria to witness to one of them (John 4:3-4).

(For everyone):What people groups can you name that have been neglected concerning the reception of the gospel? Why have these people been neglected? Are these scriptural reasons for this neglect?

(For everyone):When is the last time you thanked the Lord for the fact that He did not discriminate against you when it came to His plan to save all those that would believe?

PRAYER THOUGHTS

Thank the Lord for leading someone to tell you the gospel.

Ask the Lord to give you a heart to witness to all men.
