To Shew Himself Strong - 2 Chronicles 16:9

To Shew Himself Strong - 2 Chronicles 16:9

INTRODUCTION

The Lord looks for opportunities "to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." He made a Red Sea and located it geographically so that many years later He could part it and lead His people through on dry ground (Exodus 14:10-31). At another time, He made sure to lead Israel to the Jordan river when it overfloweth its banks to make His power more obvious when He led them across on dry land (Joshua 3:14-17). Another time, He sent much needed soldiers home to cripple the army of His own people removing all doubt as to the giver of the victory when His people came out on top (Judges 7:1-25).

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) Could you survive in a fiery furnace or a den of lions? Neither could the three Hebrew children nor Daniel. But God shewed Himself strong (Daniel 3:19-28; Daniel 6:19-27).
  • Have you ever been in circumstances where it was obvious only God could deliver you? Is it possible that the Lord put you in such a place just so that He could "shew himself strong"?
  • What other events can you remember from scripture where the Lord worked the circumstances against His people in order to "shew himself strong" when He delivered His people?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Thank the Lord for the great strength wherewith He delivers.
  • Ask God to help you praise Him for His power.
