To Him Shall Ye Do Sacrifice - 2 Kings 17:36
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Though the scriptures are plain that Christ gave Himself as man’s complete and only sacrifice, the New Testament declares that the believer, because of salvation, will offer unto God spiritual sacrifices (1 Peter 2:5Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
See All...). Before a believer can determine the complete nature of these sacrifices, he must first acknowledge that such sacrifices are to be made only unto God. The Lord declared His jealous nature in the Old Testament when He said, "He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed" (Exodus 22:20He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) God alone deserves our sacrifice (Isaiah 42:8I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Consider what these men did when they realized who the true God was: fishermen (Jonah 1:15-16 [15] So they look up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging. [16] Then the men feared the LORD exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice unto the LORD, and made vows.

[16] But he said, As the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused. [17] And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto the LORD.
See All...). - What gods competed with the one true God as recipients of men’s sacrifices? What are some things to which the modern society might offer sacrifices, spiritual or otherwise?
- Why is it so crucial that we learn to whom we should offer our sacrifices? How does this dictate the nature and purity of our sacrifices?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to show you the rivals for receiving your sacrifices.
- Ask God to help all your sacrifices to be made unto Him alone.
