The Bane of Blains
Blains are mentioned in the King James Bible only two times; both times in the passage describing the sixth plague against Egypt—the plague of boils (Exodus 9:9And it shall become small dust in all the land of Egypt, and shall be a boil breaking forth with blains upon man, and upon beast, throughout all the land of Egypt.

It is an inflammatory swelling or sore on the surface of the body. An interesting use of the word is found in the Wycliffe Bible of 1382 in Job 2:7So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.
