Must Have Ten Lives
Published Date:
July 26, 2004 Robert Moffat (1795-1883) spent the greater part of his life serving as a missionary in South Africa. He took the gospel to many of the tribes of this region. On one occasion, a tribal chief came and demanded that he leave. Moffat stood in front of his house with his wife and baby in the doorway and declared his willingness to be burned out or to suffer the shedding of blood for the cause of God. The chief left him and commented, "These men must have ten lives, since they are so fearless of death; there must be something in immorality."
Proverbs 23:8
The morsel which thou hast eaten shalt thou vomit up, and lose thy sweet words.
