My Life and the Story of the Gospel Hymns Ira Sankey, long-time song leader for D. L. Moody, gave this account from his young adulthood: “When about twenty years of age I went to Farmington, Ohio, to attend a musical convention, conducted by Mr. Bradbury [William Bradbury; 1816-1868].
