Thou Desirest Truth - Psalm 51:6
See All...
INTRODUCTION
God is extremely interested in what is going on in the heart of man. He said of the Jews, "this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men" (Isaiah 29:13Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

"The LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
See All...). This is not to suggest that God does not see man’s outward appearance, but rather that He looks deeper than man. For what is He looking? Truth!
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Read Proverbs 23:7For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
See All...a. The Lord wants us to think on true things (Joshua 1:8This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
See All...; Psalm 1:1-2 [1] Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. [2] But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

He wants our hearts to be right (1 Chronicles 28:9And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
See All...; Psalm 145:18The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.
See All...; Ezekiel 33:31And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
See All...; Hebrews 10:19Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
See All..., 22a). Oh, that the Lord could say of us what He said of Nathanael (John 1:47Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
See All...; Psalm 32:2Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
See All...). - Do you have truth in the inward parts? Do you honour God with your lips, while harbouring error and falsehood in your heart?
- Read Matthew 12:34O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
See All.... Why is it so important that man have truth dwelling in the inward parts? How does what is inside the heart of man affect every other aspect of his life?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to help you have truth in the inward parts.
