INTRODUCTION

See All..., 10). One day, all who know the Lord as Saviour will cease from their labours. It will be a time of eternal rest experienced only by those who are born again. At that time, the saved will no longer be faced with the difficulties associated with labour involving tears, sorrow, and pain (Revelation 21:4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
See All...). According to Revelation 14:13And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

• (For children): When Adam and Eve sinned, God put a curse on the earth. Life would be full of labour and man would eventually die (Genesis 3:16-19 [16] Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. [17] And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; [18] Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; [19] In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

• (For everyone): Are you longing for rest but cannot seem to find it here on this earth? Do you know the Lord Jesus as your Saviour? If so, rejoice in knowing that your rest is coming.
• Are you labouring for the Lord? What works will “follow” you when you leave this world? Are you expecting any rewards from the Lord or have you laboured only for yourself?

• Thank God for the promised rest.
• Ask the Lord to help you labour faithfully for Him until the day of your homegoing.
