The Work of Conviction - Romans 2:14-16 [14] For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
[15] Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

INTRODUCTION
Apart from truth, there can be no conviction. By definition, conviction is the work of God to convince an individual of the validity of and accountability for truth. The Holy Spirit of God takes the law of God and writes it upon the hearts of men. That truth works in a man’s conscience to accuse or excuse his thoughts. Either way, this work is very much the work of conviction. On one hand, a man develops the conviction that Jesus is the only way to get his sins forgiven. On the other hand, a man sees himself as sinful and without hope. In the end, conviction demands a holy God and a holy truth. If either are absent, there will be no conviction.

See All...). The Spirit was already working in the Ethiopian eunuch as he read Isaiah 53. Philip, sent by the Spirit, preached to him from the same Scripture and the eunuch believed (Acts 8:26-38 [26] And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
