The Truth Shall Make You Free - John 8:31-32
See All...
INTRODUCTION
For the longest time, men have been ignorant of the bondage which so tightly grips them. They think so highly of themselves that they refuse to believe anyone could ever hold them against their will. It is for this reason that men find little use for the truth. The truth makes men free, but surely men are free already. Not so! Men are in bondage. Perhaps not physically, but spiritually speaking, men without Christ are imprisoned souls in great need of deliverance. This deliverance comes at the reception of truth. At first glance, men might suppose that truth binds men, but a man enlightened by the truth knows nothing could be farther from the truth.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Man is in bondage because without being saved, he is already condemned (John 3:16-18 [16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
[18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
See All...). We can rejoice that the Lord is the truth (John 14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
See All...) and makes us free (Romans 5:9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
See All...; Romans 8:1-3 [1] There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. [3] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
See All...; 11; Hebrews 2:14-15 [14] Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; [15] And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
See All...). - Have you put your faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ? How has that truth made you free? How does this relate to John 8:36If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
See All...? - Are you free? If so, have you thanked the Lord for His Son (John 8:36If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
See All...) and His truth (John 8:32And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
See All...) that made you free? If you are in bondage, call upon the Lord Jesus before it is too late.
PRAYER NEEDS
