INTRODUCTION

Vengeance is not always executed in a swift fashion (Ecclesiastes 8:11Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
See All...). In fact, believers often grow weary because the wicked seem to prosper in spite of their evil deeds. Yet, the Lord will execute vengeance in His time. The Bible speaks often of “the day of vengeance” to come. This day is very likely a thousand year period (2 Peter 3:8But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
See All...) which will begin shortly before the second coming of the Lord and will end at the great white throne judgment following the end of the millennial kingdom. It will be a time when the Lord will refuse to spare the wicked (Proverbs 6:34For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
See All...) but will set things right for the Jewish people (Isaiah 34:8For it is the day of the LORD's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

• (For everyone): What attributes are exemplified when the Lord delays judgment upon the wicked? How can we be grateful for these same attributes even though we know Him?
• Whom do you know that is not saved? How would it grieve you to know that if the Lord were to come right now, they would be forever lost? What can you do to help them?

• Ask God for a burden for those who are lost.
• Thank the Lord for His righteousness in judgment.
