The Time of Praise

The Time of Praise - Psalm 115:17-18

INTRODUCTION

The Bible makes it plain that the Lord will receive praise and worship throughout eternity (Psalm 45:17; Psalm 145:2); yet, at the same time, there appears to be a shift in the praise at death (Psalm 30:9). Perhaps a man’s praise for the Lord while on earth bears some distinction from his praise for God in eternity. This would make sense in that man can choose to offer the sacrifice of praise (Psalm 54:6; Hebrews 13:15) from the overflow of his carnal heart now, while in eternity, he will praise the Lord from a soul sealed in righteousness. Therefore, a man ought to praise the Lord morning and evening (1 Chronicles 23:30), all the day long (Psalm 35:28), and continually (Psalm 34:1).

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) We can praise God by singing (Psalm 69:30a). As soon as children can learn a song and even into old age, we should be singing to the Lord (Psalm 104:33a). Honour the Lord right now by singing "Jesus Loves Me" to Him.
  • How much time do you think will be spent in eternity praising the Lord? How much time do you spend on this earth in praise unto the Lord? Are you satisfied with your time of praise?
  • Why does the Bible describe praise as a sacrifice that is to be offered? Will praise still be a sacrifice in eternity? What kind of an offering of praise are you presenting unto the Lord?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Take a moment to give God a sacrifice of praise.
  • Ask God to help you spend the remnant of your days in praise.
