The Peace of God - Philippians 4:6-7
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Salvation brings God's peace to His enemies by transforming them into His allies. However, “the peace of God” mentioned in today's passage involves a daily work in the believer's life. “Peace with God” remains an indissolvable bond, yet experiencing the daily “peace of God” entails an ongoing blessing that may be gained and lost. The “peace of God” comes through prayer and the Bible says this peace is beyond mortal comprehension. It truly comforts a believer’s heart and mind through Christ Jesus. This is why the Lord admonishes believers to “let the peace of God rule in” their hearts (Colossians 3:15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
See All...). The saved will always be at peace with God, but each Christian must “let” the peace of God work effectually in him on a daily basis.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Once you ask the Lord to save you, you will always be His child; but that doesn't mean you will never disobey Him again. When you do disobey, pray and ask God to forgive you for this disobedience. He always forgives through prayer and His forgiveness will give you peace on the inside.
- (For everyone): Do life's trials seem to cause you to constantly be troubled and fretting? Do you find yourself struggling to keep your heart and mind at peace? Will you seek the Lord to renew His peace within you?
- Do you talk to the Lord on a daily basis? Do you take time to read His word? Do you faithfully attend worship services with those of like faith? Do you strive to please the Lord in all that you do? If not, you are likely void of the “peace of God.”
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to grow His peace within you.
- Ask God to give you strength to seek Him daily for the “peace of God.”
HYMN
Sweet Peace
