The Ministry to the Lord

The Ministry to the Lord - Acts 13:2

INTRODUCTION

At first thought, it may be difficult to conceive the idea that believers can minister unto the Lord, but the pages of God’s word declare that it is possible. In a sense, ministering to the Lord is done by fulfilling the ministry of the word, the ministry of reconciliation, and the ministry of the saints. On a very basic level, ministering to the Lord is accomplished when believers do anything that gives unto God the praise and honour that He is due. In Acts 13, the believers "ministered unto the Lord" and though the passage does not give specifics on what this entails, an understanding of the previously mentioned ministries sheds light on their efforts.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children)  One way we can minister to the Lord is to thank Him often (Hebrews 13:15) for what He is: powerful (Psalm 62:11), holy (Psalm 99:9), great (Psalm 104:1), good (Psalm 107:1), the only God (Isaiah 45:5a), and true (John 3:33).
  • What are some ways in which you can minister unto the Lord? What are some things that would indicate God’s worth to you? How could prayer, giving, and praise be considered ministry?
  • Do you want the Lord to use you to do greater things for Him? What are you doing to minister to Him right now? What happened when the believers ministered to Him in Acts 13?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask the Lord to teach you how to minister unto Him.
  • Ask God to help you submit to His will for your life.

HYMN

Come, Thou Fount
