The Last Laugh - Psalm 2:4
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Sorrows and tears fill the life of many people, yet one day all that will gloriously change for the child of God. Today, this world may laugh, mock, and ridicule the Lord and His people, but one day soon, the tide will turn. The Bible has some shocking truths. In fact, several passages attest to the fact that God will laugh at the wicked (Psalm 2:4He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.
See All...; Psalm 37:13The LORD shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.
See All...; Psalm 59:8But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.
See All...). This may seem harsh, but God is gracious, merciful, and longsuffering. The Lord will never laugh at the difficulties of any to whom He has not first offered refuge and deliverance. In like manner, wisdom personified in the Bible warns her rejecters that she too will laugh at their calamity and mock when their fear cometh (Proverbs 1:26I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
See All...). On the other hand, the Bible assures a glorious future time of laughter for the people of God (Luke 6:21Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
See All...).
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Would you be happy if you unexpectedly stumbled across a great treasure? Read Psalm 119:162I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.
See All.... We can rejoice now in God’s promises (Revelation 21:4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
See All...) even if others say He doesn’t exist or isn’t coming back (2 Peter 3:3-4 [3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, [4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
See All...). - (For everyone): Our laughter here is often interrupted by sorrows. In heaven, there will be no sorrows to interrupt our laughter. What does this mean about the abundance of our future joy?
- What is the source of God’s laughter in heaven? What will be the source of our laughter and joy in heaven? What should be the source of these things now?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Thank God that He will one day wipe away all tears.
- Thank the Lord that your sorrows will be replaced with laughter.
