The God of Peace - Romans 15:33
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Society has become increasingly tumultuous offering vast distractions yet supplying little peace of mind. Unfortunately, most people seeking peace do so through the wrong means. Some seek it through entertainment, some through medication, some through relationships, and others through materialism; but their desire for peace remains an ever elusive quest. God is the only source offering true and lasting peace. In fact, the word of God identifies the Lord five times as the “God of peace” (Romans 15:33Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
See All...; Romans 16:20And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
See All...; Philippians 4:9
See All...; 1 Thessalonians 5:23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
See All...; Hebrews 13:20Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
See All...). Another passage identifies Him as the “Lord of peace” (2 Thessalonians 3:16Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
See All...). Additionally, the Lord Jesus is identified as “The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
See All...). Not only do these truths affirm that the Lord has peace to offer, but that He is the One in control of providing peace. Trying to find peace apart from God’s working is comparable to salvation without a Saviour.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Children usually run to dad or mom for help. As we grow older, mom and dad may not always be near for us to go to them for help. However, God is always near. He said, “I will never leave thee nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
See All...). He promises to be “a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
See All...). - (For everyone): What do you do when you find yourself in the midst of trials? Where do you run or to whom do you run for help? The answer to these questions will help you to understand what or to whom you seek for peace.
- The things of this world to which we turn for peace often provide the opposite outcomes. However, when God provides peace, He does not add to our burdens and frustration.
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask God to help you understand that He is the source of peace.
- Ask God to help you to seek Him and Him only during times of trouble.
