The Former Things Are Passed Away - Revelation 21:4

The Former Things Are Passed Away - Revelation 21:4

INTRODUCTION

Trials, afflictions, and heartaches may presently abound, but those who know the Lord should rejoice in knowing that those things are promised to be only “for a season” (1 Peter 1:6). In this life, the saved may suffer “a while” (1 Peter 5:10), but this suffering will soon pass away forever. Regardless of the trials of life, whether emotional, spiritual, or physical, they each will one day give way to a complete and perfect joy. One day, death or the Rapture will bring a perfect life. In this life, there will be no sorrow. Crying will give way to rejoicing and perfect happiness, and pain will give way to perfect health. Oh, what a blessed day that will be! In the beginning, this was the Lord’s desire for man. In the end, it will be the reality for all those who know the Lord as they forever dwell in His presence.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For children): Life on earth has joys and sorrows. Yet, if we are saved, one day our joy will be full (complete, perfect) because we will forever be with the Lord (John 14:1-3; 2 Corinthians 5:8; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17; Psalm 16:11).
  • (For everyone): What trials are you facing today? Have you lost loved ones to death? Are you experiencing fears due to personal troubles? Turn your eyes upon the Lord knowing that these things too shall pass.
  • Have you called upon the Lord for salvation? If not, you will never enjoy the benefits of heaven. Will you examine yourself to see whether or not you are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5)?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • If you are saved, thank the Lord for the joys that await you.
  • Ask the Lord to remind you that trials will pass.
