The Effects of False Teachers - Titus 1:11
See All...
INTRODUCTION
False teachers are dangerous! They may do their work for a while with no visual fruit, but if allowed to continue, they will deceive individuals, families, and churches. The apostle Paul warned Titus that the mouths of such teachers must be stopped, as they had already seen success. What a shame that whole houses had already been subverted and the false teachers were still at work. A similar situation is recorded in Acts 15:24Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:
See All... where the saints of God were "troubled" by the words of false teachers. How many saints of God walked away from sound doctrine because of false teachers, and worse yet, how many souls are burning in hell right now, because they trusted in a false gospel.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) False teachers taught that the dead rise not. Paul said if that were true, our faith is vain and we would be miserable (1 Corin-thians 15:12
See All..., 16-19). Some taught the resurrection was past causing some to give up what they believed (2 Timothy 2:17-18 [17] And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; [18] Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
See All...). - Why would the Devil seek to deceive you into believing false doctrines? Why does the Devil desire to get you to become a follower of man?
- Do you know anyone who has been deceived into believing false doctrine? How has it affected that individual? Has it affected that person’s family, or church?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Thank God for giving you light on the danger of false teaching.
- Ask the Lord to guard you from deception.
