The Blessing of Reading and Hearing

The Blessing of Reading and Hearing - Revelation 1:3

INTRODUCTION

No other book in the world but the Bible can claim blessings will be received from the reading or hearing of it. Specifically, the Bible indicates a special blessing can be received from the book of Revelation. However, there can be no doubt that blessings are received any time any of the words of God are read and heard. Perhaps these blessings will not show themselves in the immediate; but eventually, believers devoting time to the reading and/or hearing of scripture will begin to receive great spiritual benefit. As the word of God enters the eyes and ears, it works its way into the heart and mind. As the word of God moves into these areas, it begins its work of purification (Ephesians 5:26).

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) There is no greater joy or blessing than to know for sure you are going to heaven. You can only know this by reading or hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17; John 3:16; John 6:37b).
  • People have different methods of learning in which they excel. How do you learn best? Do you implement this method in your study of the scripture?
  • What are some blessings that can be received by reading or by hearing the Bible read? How many blessings are you missing when you fail to read it or hear it?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask God to help you be faithful to read and hear His word.
  • Take time to thank the Lord for giving you His words.
