Lessons in Wisdom
This chapter has many lists of thing that make us think. Many of these lists have practical or spiritual applications. Keep your spiritual eyes open for these applications.
The Myth of Two Masters
Many people today are attempting to live for the world while making claims of being a servant of God. The only problem is that according to scripture we cannot serve two masters. May we be like Joshua who said, "but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
Judgment Seat of Christ
Modern Christianity seems rather quick to criticize the wicked state of the world. The Almighty God (Daily Portion 10430)
God appeared to Abram and identified Himself as the Almighty God. He was not just one of many gods; He is the only Supreme God. The Lord changed the names of Abram and Sarai to Abraham and Sarah to show His power to change their lives and their future. He promised a son to Abraham and Sarah and demanded that Abraham and the men in his household practice circumcision as the token of the covenant. The Almighty God will do a great work in their lives.

Isaiah seeks divine intervention but also recognizes that Judah’s own iniquities have brought this judgment on them. He appeals to the mercy of God. They are His people and He is their father.
Grace Did Much More Abound (Daily Portion 10422)
This passage deals with the universal problem of sin. Sin is and has been the curse of all mankind. However, because of the offer of eternal life through Jesus Christ, sin has a solution. As this passage says, “where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”
