Does God Have a Soul?
There are several passages in the Bible that seem to indicate God has a soul. Is this a soul as we often think of elsewhere in the scripture or is it something different?
Genealogies
There is a difference in Jesus Genealogy found in Matthew chapter 1 and Luke chapter 3. What annoys me is that one of the gospels traces Jesus back to Solomon while the other traces it back to Nathan. How can we explain that?
Santa Claus
We have some Santa's in our home and we recently read James Melton's tract on Santa. Should we throw away our Santa's?
Being Troubled About the Sabbath
Do you have people telling you that you have taken the mark of the beast by worshipping on Sunday? Do they try to convince you that you are evil because you do not keep the sabbath? Here are some pointers on how to handle this confrontation.
Chicken in Every Pot
One of the American political slogans used by Herbert Hoover in the 1932 presidential campaign was a promise of "a chicken in every pot." This was used against him since it was promised during the time of the Great Depression. It originally came from the promise of the French King Henry IV made at the time of his crowning in 1589: "that every peasant will have a chicken in his pot on Sunday." As in the case of Hoover, Henry could not deliver on his promise and was assassinated in 1610. How much better is the Lord's promise of a future time when "every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts" (Zechariah 14:21).
From Fasting to Feasting
On August 3, 2006 (9th of Ab in the Jewish calendar; a month called the "fifth month" in the Bible), the Jewish people will remember the 2,592nd anniversary of the destruction of King Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem with a day of mourning and fasting. This is also thought to be the date when Herod's Temple was destroyed in 70AD and the date for the expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492. The Jews still mourn their many losses. In Zechariah 7:3-5, Zechariah was asked if it ws proper to continue the fast of the fifth month. The fast had been established to mourn the destruction of Jerusalem; but now Jerusalem was being restored. In reply, the Lord foretold of the day when Israel will be fully restored and the fasts "shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace" (Zechariah 8:19). Yet, as any reading of today's newspaper will demonstrate, the Jews still fast and Rachel is still weeping for her children (Jeremiah 31:15). All who love the Lord still look to that day when the fast of the fifth month will be turned into a feast.
Misusing the Fast (Daily Portion 10310)
In this chapter, the temple is nearing completion (compare Ezra 6:15 with Zechariah 7:1). Two men are sent to the house of God to pray and seek God
The Four Chariots (Daily Portion 10303)
The vision of the four chariots is the last of eight night visions in the first six chapters of Zechariah (called night visions because Zechariah said,
Final Authority - Chapter 1
An excerpt from the book Final Authority by Dr. William P. Grady. This chapter was written to warn the child of God of the war that has been waged against our Bible.
Visions of Warning (Daily Portion 10224)
In this chapter, God gives Zechariah two visions of warning. First, he sees a flying roll, which is identified as the curse. This pictures the law of God and the curse on those who disobey it. Second, he sees a woman sitting in a basket called an ephah (after the size of the basket). This vision is called wickedness and portrays false religion.
