[3] And again they said, Alleluia And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
[4] And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
[5] And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.

See All...) - Special Note on the Marriage Supper of the Lamb
- The Biblical pattern for marriage
- First, the marriage contract
- It was consummated before the two came together as husband and wife
- However, it was a legal contract and the couple were at this time considered legally married
- At this time, a proper dowry would be determined and paid
- Second, the wedding
- This often occurred years after the marriage contract had been signed
- In this ceremony, the bridegroom would go to the house of the bride and escort her to his home
- Third, the marriage feast
- This followed the actual wedding
- Guests would be invited and a great feast would take place (John 2:1And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

[14] Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

[3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

See All...) - The angel standing in the sun (Revelation 19:17And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
See All...) - The critics
- Many modern scholars say the angel is really standing in the center of heaven, but do not say much about that
- Most commentators either ignore this fact or acknowledge it and say nothing about it
- The interpretation
- There must be something significant about the sun at the coming of Christ in His glory
- The LORD God is a sun and a shield (Psalm 84:11For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
See All...) - One set of events during the tribulation is called “signs in the sun” (Luke 21:25And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
See All...) - The tribulation is marked by signs such as the sun being darkened, the moon giving no light, and the stars falling (Matthew 24:29Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
See All...) - However, a special sign called “the sign of the Son of man in heaven” immediately precedes His coming in power and great glory (Matthew 24:30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
See All...). By nature, this sign must be different that the other signs which mark the tribulation. - The sign mentioned in Matthew 24:30And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
See All... is called the sign of the Son of man , not the sign of the Son of God. Why? Perhaps the answer is to be found in the description of the glorified Christ in Revelation, chapter one. He is described as “one like unto the Son of man” (Revelation 1:13And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
See All...). He is then described with nine expressions. The last, or ninth, phrase states: “his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.” - This fits in with Malachi 4:1-3 [1] For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
[2] But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
[3] And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.
See All... where Christ will come to those who fear His name as the “ Sun of righteousness .” This day shall burn as an oven and shall burn up all who do wickedly (verse 1). Also, at this time, the saints shall tread down the wicked (verse 3). The events perfectly fit the battle of Armageddon. - So, what does all this have to do with the literal sun? Read Isaiah 30:25-33 [25] And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon every high hill, rivers and streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.
[26] Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.
[27] Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:
[28] And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.
[29] Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.
[30] And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
[31] For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.
[32] And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.
[33] For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.
See All.... - It describes “the day of the great slaughter” (verse 25). This matches “the supper of the great God” (Revelation 19:17And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

See All...; compare Revelation 19:20And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
See All...) - Compare Revelation 16:8-9 [8] And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.
[9] And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.
See All..., where the sun is given power to scorch men with fire - Consider the following:
- The sun burning seven times brighter is different than the sun being darkened
- Though we do not know how to measure seven times the brightness God’s way, mankind could certainly not last long under these circumstances. So, it must be a short event.
- How better to indicate the coming of the Sun of righteousness than with the brightening of the physical sun?
- Even with all this evidence, we must still admit that we may not know for sure the identity of the sign of the coming of the Son of man. But we can know that His coming is connected to the brightening of the sun.
- Further evidence is found in 2 Thessalonians 2:7-10 [7] For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
[8] And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
[9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
[10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
See All... - The Lord Jesus Christ is revealed from heaven with the mighty angels (verse 7); so the time matches Revelation 19:17-21 [17] And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
[18] That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
[19] And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
[20] And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
[21] And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
See All.... - He comes in flaming fire taking vengeance on the wicked (verse 8); therefore, His coming is connected with flaming fire. We know from Isaiah 30:26Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.
See All... that this includes the brightening of the sun. - He comes to be glorified in his saints (verse 10)

These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
[21] And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.
