The Greatness of Our God
Scripture Passage:
Psalm 138:6 Introduction: The distance between man and God is great. This is partly based on the greatness of God, but the distance is magnified even more by the lowliness of man. Knowledge of this great gulf is not meant to discourage man, it is meant give man an idea of the greatness and holiness of God. We cannot comprehend this greatness by ourselves, but the scriptures give us some comparative statements that will leave us in awe.
- THE GREATNESS OF GOD
- The Greatness of His Size (1 Kings 8:27But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
See All...; Isaiah 40:22It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
See All...; Isaiah 57:15For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

See All...) - The Greatness of His Arm (Psalms 89:13Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand.
See All...; Psalms 77:15-19 [15] Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. [16] The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled. [17] The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad. [18] The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook. [19] Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.
See All...) - The Greatness of His Hand (Isaiah 40:12Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?
See All...) - The Greatness of His Voice (Job 40:9Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
See All...; Psalms 104:7-9 [7] At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. [8] They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. [9] Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.

Conclusion: What would a man do if one of the greatest of dignitaries took notice of him and cared for him deeply? This man would give of himself in a great way to ensure the dignitary of his great choice. How much more should we be concerned for the favor of God, seeing He is the highest of all?
Proverbs 25:12
As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
