Introduction: The dayspring is the spring of the day; that is, the morning. This passage reveals some of the scientific details about this phenomenon. However, the dayspring is also a type of Jesus Christ, as revealed in the only other place in the Bible where the word occurs – Luke 1:78. See also 2 Peter 1:19; Revelation 22:16. In this message, we will observe the coming of the Dayspring from on high.

  1. HIS GLORY (Job 38:12)
    1. The Sun of Righteousness (Malachi 4:2; Isaiah 60:1-3)
    2. The Light of the Glory of God (2 Corinthians 4:6)
  2. HIS TIME (Job 38:12a); the morning is a point in time to us on the earth (see Galatians 4:4; Luke 2:1-7)
  3. HIS PLACE (Job 38:12b)
    1. The Dayspring Has a Place on Earth at any Given Time; it is always morning somewhere
    2. Jesus Had to be Born in the Right Place (Matthew 2:1-11)
  4. HIS SALVATION (Job 38:13); Salvation, or deliverance, through the dayspring is connected to the destruction of enemies (Luke 1:67-79; 2 Peter 1:19)
  5. HIS INCARNATION (Job 38:14a)
    1. The Turning of the Clay (Job 10:9; Isaiah 64:8)
    2. The Word was Made Flesh (Luke 1:30-35; John 1:14)
  6. HIS SEALING (Job 38:14b)
    1. The Earth as a Cylinder Seal (Isaiah 40:22; Proverbs 8:27; Luke 17:34-36)
    2. The Sealing of the Son (John 3:33; John 6:27)
      1. Showing approval (Acts 2:22)
      2. Showing permanence (Acts 1:11; Zechariah 12:10; Zechariah 13:6)
  7. HIS JUDGMENT (Job 38:14c-15)
    1. The Judgment of the Son (John 5:22, 27; Acts 17:31)
    2. The Wicked Standing as Garments (Hebrews 1:10-12; Revelation 20:11)
    3. The Arm of the Wicked Broken (Psalm 10:15)
Conclusion: Three Mornings:
  • The Visit of the Dayspring From on High (Luke 1:78)
  • The Dawning of the New Day (2 Peter 1:19)
  • The Arising of the Day Star in your Heart (2 Peter 1:19)
