Receiving Rebuke
See All...
INTRODUCTION
No believer is sinless. As such, each believer will find times when he is rebuked of the Lord. It is a natural part of the Christian life. At the same time, there will be circumstances which will bring about a rebuke from another believer (Ecclesiastes 7:5It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools.
See All...). These are healthy parts of Christian growth. Yet, the goal of every believer ought to be a walk that is beyond rebuke. Paul’s desire for the Philippian believers was that they "may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation" (Philippians 2:15Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
See All...). He then admonished Timothy to keep God’s commandment "without spot" and "unrebukeable" (1 Timothy 6:14That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) If someone points out to us that we could do better in some areas of our lives, we should be grateful. The Lord wants us to live so others will know that we love and serve Him (Matthew 5:16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
See All...). Read what He says about those who don't receive rebuke (Proverbs 10:17He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
See All...b; Proverbs 12:1Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
See All...b). - How should we respond when rebuked by the Lord? How should we respond when rebuked by someone who loves the Lord and has wisdom?
- What are some measures we could take to insure that we are "without rebuke"? How could 1 Corinthians 11:31For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
See All... assist us in this endeavour?
