Problems Are a Reality of Life - 1 Peter 4:12
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Problems are a reality of life. The Lord cautioned concerning this truth when He said, “In the world ye shall have tribulation” (John 16:33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
See All...). Simon Peter echoed this sentiment when he said, “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you” (1 Peter 4:12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
See All...). Problems, trials, and tribulations occur because of sin’s presence, and so long as sin remains within this world, men will face difficulties. Though the nature of these problems varies, the foundational solutions are the same: problems must be faced, and spiritual, scriptural solutions must be sought. Failure to do so only increases the presence and impact of the problems.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): No one escapes having problems (Job 14:1Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.
See All...). The apostle Paul had been stoned at Lystra. After preaching in another town, he returned to Lystra and warned his disciples that problems would come, but they should continue serving God (Acts 14:19-22 [19] And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead. [20] Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. [21] And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch, [22] Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.
See All...). - (For everyone): What are some problems you are presently facing? Are you able to identify the source of any of these problems? What are you doing to resolve the problems?
- What is your first reaction when a serious problem arises? Do you try to hide or ignore the problem in hopes it will disappear? Does that appear to be working?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to help you solve the problems that you face.
- Ask God for wisdom in settling troubling conflicts.
