Preferring One Another - Romans 12:10
See All...
INTRODUCTION
In a self-centered world it is hard to imagine what it would be like to find a people who esteemed "other better than themselves" (Philippians 2:3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
See All...), but that is exactly what God expects from Christians. Though men are not to be respecters of persons in judgment, they are to prefer and esteem others above themselves, especially when it comes to fellow believers. "As we have . . . opportunity," believers are to "do good unto all men," but "especially unto them who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
See All...). It is an indicator that the church is in its last days when even the saved people are "lovers of their own selves" (2 Timothy 3:2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Jesus went about doing good (Acts 10:38How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
See All...). He is our example in humility and service (Matthew 20:28Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
See All...; Luke 22:26-27 [26] But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief, as he that doth serve. [27] For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.
See All...; John 13:4-5 [4] He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. [5] After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded.
See All...; 12-15). We need to be more like Him (Philippians 2:5Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people:
See All..., 7; Ephesians 5:21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
See All...; Galatians 5:13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
See All...c; 1 Peter 5:5Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
See All...). - Do you give preference to your brothers and sisters in Christ above yourself? Do you have respect unto them? Are you doing good to them who are of the household of faith?
- How can you demonstrate respect for your brethren in Christ? What kind of things could you do for them to show preference above yourself? How often do you do those things?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask God to give you a heart for others.
- Thank God for brotherly love.
