Order in the Home - 1 Corinthians 11:3

Order in the Home - 1 Corinthians 11:3

INTRODUCTION

The home is under attack. As the world seeks to dilute the distinction between men and women, it becomes increasingly difficult for those seeking God’s order in the home. At the end of the day, someone has to be the leader and bear the responsibility. According to 1 Corinthians 11:3, the proper order is a woman submitted to a man, who is submitted to Christ, who is submitted to the Father. Just as the submission of Christ did not suggest that He was inferior to the Father, a submissive wife does not indicate inferiority. In fact, it takes a stronger woman to follow God’s plan of submission. A godly home will follow the scriptures even when it contradicts the culture.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

  • (For smaller children) God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). How could you play "Follow the Leader" if everyone wanted to be leader? God set up the order of leaders in the home (Ephesians 5:22-23; Ephesians 6:1).
  • The order of the home was established in Genesis 3:16, if not earlier. Why is it important that the husband/father be the head of the home?
  • The fact that the man is to be the head of the home in no ways suggests that he is better than the wife/mother. How can this be proven from 1 Corinthians 11:3?

PRAYER NEEDS

  • Ask the Lord to restore the proper order to your home.
  • Ask God to help each member of the family to fulfil his/her role.
