No Fellowship
See All...
INTRODUCTION
The importance of fellowship is irrefutable, but just as important is the refusal of fellowship. It is important to fellowship with the right people, but it is also important that we "have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness." The people of God have no business yoking up with the world in any endeavors that deal with God’s work. In 2 Corinthians 6:14Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
See All..., the Bible says, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" Fellowship suggests agreement. When we fellowship with carnal believers or unsaved people, we accept their motives and objectives as our own.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) God wants us to choose good friends with whom to serve Him (Psalm 119:63I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.
See All...). He knows we need their help. We have a part of us that loves to do wrong, and choosing the wrong friends will cause us to do things of which God disapproves (Proverbs 28:7Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.
See All...b). Remember Solomon (1 Kings 11:4For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
See All..., 9). - What are some areas where fellowship with carnal believers or unsaved people could be harmful? Do you have fellowship with those people in these areas? What should you do?
- Why is it important that we have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness? What should we do to separate ourselves from ungodly works?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to give you wisdom in fellowship.
- Ask God to yoke you up with the right people.
