An excerpt from the book: "In dealing with the false doctrines of the Charismatic movement, it is difficult to separate certain doctrines from others. For example, speaking in tongues (glossolalia) is one of several “sign gifts” that Charismatics claim to have as proof, evidence or a “sign” that one has been saved and “baptized with the Holy Ghost.” While there are several other emphasized gifts, tongues is the primary “sign gift” that the Charismatics dwell upon. A sign gift according to the Charismatics is a special gift of signs such as tongues, healing, prophecy, etc. that was given to the apostles and is now available to all who are baptized in the Holy Ghost. Now before we examine the issue of tongues, let’s further consider the term charismatic. It is not even a regular English word, but is a transliterated Greek word from charisma, meaning “gifted.” If you are a Charismatic, then you claim to possess something that the average “lay” person (another anti-biblical term) does not have. A Charismatic boasts of something he does not have, nor can he possess. To do so is a fraud, plain and simple. Nevertheless, remember that many Charismatics are genuine and sincere. The majority, however, are emotional fools, babbling like infants who have not yet mastered the verbal skills necessary to utter "Dada." A few verses come to mind that define the average Charismatic: Proverbs 25:14 “Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain.” Galatians 6:3 “For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he decieveth himself.” We now know that one who calls himself a “Charismatic” claims to possess a unique gift or gifts that the non-Charismatic does not possess."
