Man’s Need for Salvation - 1 Corinthians 15:22
See All...
INTRODUCTION
When Adam transgressed, he affected all that would come after him. When God created man, He did so after His own likeness (Genesis 1:26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
See All...; Genesis 5:1This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him;
See All...), but when fallen Adam bore a son, the Bible says that Adam "begat a son in his own likeness" (Genesis 5:3And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:
See All...). Adam’s sin came with great consequences experienced by all. All born of Adam’s seed bear Adam’s image (1 Corinthians 15:47-49 [47] The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
[48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
[49] And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
See All...). And "in Adam all die" (1 Corinthians 15:22For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
See All...). At the same time, no man faces the eternal judgment of God for bearing Adam’s image, but he does so based upon his own practice of sin and refusal to accept God’s free gift of salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) The Bible is very plain that man needs to be saved. The answer to the question in Proverbs 20:9Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
See All... is no one . Read also Romans 5:12Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
See All...; Romans 5:19For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
See All...; Romans 3:23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
See All...; Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
See All.... What do you learn from these verses? - What evidence exists that Adam’s sin has affected you? What naturally lies within you that did not originally exist within Adam?
- How have you added to the problem by personally choosing to sin? Have you tried to blame Adam and Eve rather than realizing you would face God’s judgment based upon your own sin?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask the Lord to begin working in your heart if you are not saved.
- Thank God for considering man’s great need for salvation.
