                    The Study of an Event

  1. LOCATING THE EVENT IN SCRIPTURE
    1. Using the Scripture
      1. One of the most common mistakes in Bible study is failing to find every account of an event.
      2. The event that you are studying could be found mainly in Exodus and Numbers, yet you could find key verses in the Psalms, Hebrews or somewhere else.
      3. In order to do this with using scripture alone, you will need a very thorough knowledge of the entire Bible.
    2. Using Other Resources
      1. One of the best resources in the search for verses relating to an event would be the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge.
      2. There are also resources that deal with specific events found in scripture such as a book on the battles of the Bible.
      3. Commentaries might lend some help in the research of an event.
      4. Keep in mind that these works are done by men and therefore are prone to error.  The only infallible resource we have is the Bible itself.
  2. LOCATE INFORMATION CONCERNING THE EVENT
    1. Details of the Event
      1. What are the individual details of the event?
      2. Do some of the details seem to contradict other details?  If so, what is the solution?
    2. People
      1. What people are associated with the event?
      2. Who is the major person connected to this event?  How does this relate to other events involving this person?
      3. What is the role of God the Father in the event?  What is the role of God the Son in the event?  What is the role of God the Holy Spirit in the event?
    3. Places
      1. What places are associated with the event?
      2. Was the place prophesied in scripture?
    4. Time
      1. What is the time frame in which the event is occurring?
      2. What other events are occurring at the same time?
    5. Prophecy
      1. What prophecies are given concerning this event?
      2. Have all of the prophecies concerning this event been fulfilled?
