INTRODUCTION

When the people of God were called upon to give to the work of God in Moses’ day, they gave and did so abundantly. Eventually, the men that wrought the work came to Moses and suggested that the people could cease their giving. When a person’s heart is right and he believes in the work of God, he will not have to be begged to give, but will give liberally. This type of liberality was also manifest in the early church. The people of God "were of one heart and of one soul" (Acts 4:32And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
See All...), and many of them sold houses and lands, bringing the money to the apostles (Acts 4:34Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
See All...). This liberality assisted the work of God and helped the people of God.

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS

• (For smaller children) The Bible gives examples of those who loved God so much that they gave even when it might have been difficult. Consider the Macedonians (2 Corinthians 8:1-4 [1] Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia; [2] How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality. [3] For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves; [4] Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
