Let Us Offer Sacrifices Continually - Hebrews 13:15
See All...
INTRODUCTION
In the Old Testament, sacrifices were often scheduled. It might be a sacrifice that was offered once a year, or one that was offered as a result of some specific sin, but it was most often done based upon a schedule given by the Lord. It would appear that no such schedule is given for the New Testament believer. Instead Hebrews 13:15By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
See All... suggests that believers ought to "offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually." There is no need to wait until a certain day comes around next year, next month, or even next week. Every day the believer has reason to open his mouth in praise to God. Every day he has reason to give God thanks for all that He has done and is doing.
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) David was a man after God's own heart. He knew God deserved his praise continually. Read Psalm 34:1I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
See All...; Psalm 35:28And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
See All...; Psalm 70:4Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
See All.... What can you praise God for right now? - How often do you praise God? How often do you thank Him for what He has done for you? Do you wait until there are others around or do you offer Him sacrifices on a daily basis, even in the privacy of your own home?
- Has God been good to you? What has He done for you? Have you taken time to thank and praise Him?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Thank God for being so good to you.
- Ask God to help you sacrifice unto Him continually.
HYMN
Thanks to God
