Let Every Man Be Fully Persuaded - Romans 14:1-10
See All...
INTRODUCTION
There are things over which all believers will not agree. At times, these things are doctrinal issues and they need to be addressed. At other times, these things may be issues not addressed by the scriptures. In such cases, believers should be gracious with one another. If one man "esteemeth one day above another" (Romans 14:5One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
See All...), he should regard that day "unto the Lord" (Romans 14:6He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
See All...). If another brother does not esteem that day above another (Romans 14:5One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
See All...), he should likewise do it "unto the Lord" (Romans 14:6He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
See All...). Instead of splitting over such things, believers should be gracious and understand that all will "stand before the judgment seat of Christ" (Romans 14:10But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
See All...).
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For smaller children) Whatever we do, we should do with confidence that God approves (John 8:29And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
See All...b). If we can't, that is sin (Romans 14:23And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
See All...b). What we can do or can't do may be different for individuals. Instead of getting upset, let God be the judge (1 Corinthians 4:5Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
See All...). - What are some things over which believers should not separate? How can people on both sides of the issue do what they do "unto the Lord"?
- What should be the believer’s authority in all matters of faith and practice? How should believer’s handle those things not addressed by the Bible?
PRAYER NEEDS
- Ask God to give you a scriptural graciousness.
- Ask the Lord to give peace amongst His people.
