Joy Cometh in the Morning - Psalm 30:5
See All...
INTRODUCTION
Life may seem like it drags on with little end in sight, yet the Bible describes it differently. Life is merely “a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away” (James 4:14Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
See All...). Likewise, the trials of life are only temporary and should be viewed in that light. The apostle Paul, who suffered many things, described the difficulties of this life as merely a “light affliction, which is but for a moment” (2 Corinthians 4:17For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
See All...). He declared that “the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
See All...). The Bible offers an even greater hope in the thirtieth psalm when it said, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” (Psalm 30:5For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
See All...). Truly, joy comes in the morning!
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHTS
- (For children): Job did not know what his outcome would be in this life, but he had hope (Job 19:25-27 [25] For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
[26] And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
[27] Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
See All...; Job 23:10But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
See All...). Peter says our trials are for a season and we can rejoice now by keeping in mind what awaits us (1 Peter 1:3-9 [3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, [4] To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, [5] Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. [6] Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: [7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: [8] Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: [9] Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
See All...). - (For everyone): How does the knowledge that trials are temporary help your ability to endure those trials? How can you face them with joy knowing that you will have nothing but joy when in the presence of the Lord?
- Read Psalm 66:12Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
See All.... How could this verse be spiritually true of your present and your future?
